Indian White-eye

Hyperactive little yellow bird with an off-white belly and white “spectacles.” Found in a wide range of habitats, from mangroves to gardens to forest edge; generally favors more open forested areas, not dense tangles. Travels in flocks, sometimes mixed in with other species. Note light bouncing flight. Gives bright but faint “zwee!” calls both while foraging and in flight.

It is found in a variety of woodland habitats from mangroves to temperate hill forests of the Indian Subcontinent and adjacent areas, including continental mainland southeast Asia, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with a disjunct population of uncertain origin on Mahawt Island, Oman.

Though mainly insectivorous, the Indian white-eye will also eat nectar and fruits of various kinds. They call frequently as they forage and the usual contact call is a soft nasal cheer. They pollinate flowers when they visit them for flower insects (such as thrips) and possibly nectar (questioned) that form their diet.
